The Nelson Mandela Artillery Pipes & Drums has been around pretty much everywhere, may it be going to competitions, weddings, funerals or parades. One can be certain that you could find any of our band members at the Mitchells Ale House at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town at 5 pm to do what they do best, perform. It’s one of our favourite gigs to perform at. It’s a Scottish restaurant that is so well-liked by the locals and tourists with their pub atmosphere and delicious food. It’s why you will always see someone wearing a kilt there.
What’s so fantastic about Mitchells?
At Mitchell’s the superb location offers you mountain and harbour views, a fun atmosphere, friendly staff and a menu to make even the hungriest visitor happy. In the evening you can enjoy the live entertainment and even take to the dance floor. Well known locally and internationally, Mitchell’s is an institution at the V&A Waterfront where you can find 16 draught beers on tap. Besides the delicious food, the excellent beer and the live music, Mitchell’s also caters for sports lovers, who can watch and cheer their favourite team on multiple television screens. The band can’t get enough with their Onion Ring Tower and their hot Chilli Poppers which leaves you so mouth watering that you have to get yourself a pint of beer.
Nelson Mandela Artillery can’t get enough of Mitchells
You can trust that the band supports each other when it comes to Saturdays at 5pm at Mitchells Ale house. No matter how bad the weather is, you will always see us performing and supporting at the Waterfront. Each week 2 of our pipers would perform and sometimes the entire band if the occasion requires it. Believe me, it doesn’t require much. The presence of the band draws quite a crowd. Many of course are tourist and the most popular song requested is Flower of Scotland, the unauthorised anthem of Scotland, and Highland Cathedral. We then become a great hit with nearby Bachelorette parties, Bachelor parties as well as birthday parties. Playing a full hour can be tiresome but a pint of the Mitchells beer will always lift the spirits of a bagpiper, supporting the pub all through the night.
The Mitchells Stars!
Mitchells Ale House is a pub that everybody knows the staffs’ names. Of course, we would as we are there almost every week without fail. Erin, Ginger and Martin to name a few where they either serve us, knows our orders and take pictures of our tables. Martin likes to take selfies with our phones. The next time you go to the Waterfront, go say hi to them, go have lunch at Mitchells and spread the love.
